My name is Jasmine Brooks, I'm a multi-disciplinary artist
originally from Los Angeles. Since 2012, I've resided in Houston.
My journey as an artist began in 2018, fueled by a desire for self-expression and experimentation with color, than geometric shapes and studying graphic design in school. I grew into a mixed media (multi-disciplinary artist). Incorporating styles like hard edge, abstract,
and a retro adjacent look.My work consists of hard-edge geometric and free form shapes, unordinary/unique depictions of people in interior scenery and obscure collages by using acrylic paint, fabric and paper. Using bold colors to create dynamic compositions. Throughout life I’ve embraced the power of not fitting into one identity and being a layered, odd, multi-faceted individual. Appreciating the simple and complex aspects of oneself.I seek to convey themes of acceptance in self-image, freedom through expression, emotions, diversity, beauty, odd and offbeat things and appreciation of aesthetics, material subjects and women.
Intended for those who appreciates color therapy, unique interior design, funky or retro aesthetics and feminine or feline subjects.
These themes are reflected in my work as I present the embodiment of my individuality, life journey, femininity, style and everyday things
I find intriguing.My mission is to continuously create multiple series of work in my unique style while also incorporating my inspiration of the vintage/retro era and abstract concepts. And, to positively inspire creatives to prioritize and exercise their passions and gifts.
